Published: 03.06.2024

Error messages when looking up a website are common. Although they are often easy to solve, they still often go wrong. This could be due to a small error, but this can immediately prevent a connection error. Resolving these errors requires some steps. In this blog, you can read the most common connection errors and how to solve them!

Fix Most Connection Errors in 3 Steps

Do you want to solve most connection errors easily? This is possible by following just three steps. Below are the steps you can follow:

  1. Check the web address for possible typos
  2. Check your own internet connection
  3. Contact the site owner

No Secure Server Connection and Other Errors

Below we have listed the most common connection errors, including 'no secure server connection':

‘Your Connection is Not Private’ or ‘SSL Certificate Error’

This error can be quite complicated, but fortunately, there are some simple solutions that can resolve the error:

  1. Log in to the portal: If you are on a public WiFi network, you sometimes have to log in. This is easy to do by opening a site with http:// in front of it. You can enter this as http://example.nl. After this, you can log in to the portal and you will have a WiFi connection.

  2. Open the page in incognito mode: Use an incognito window to visit the page. Is the page working now? Then one of your extensions is not working properly. You can solve this by disabling the wrong extension.

  3. Update your operating system: Make sure your operating system is up to date. If not, update the operating system first and try again. If this doesn't work, continue to the next step.

  4. Temporarily disable your anti-virus program: The error can also be caused by an anti-virus program offering HTTPS scanning or protection. This prevents your browser from providing security. Disable this temporarily and see if the problem is resolved. If not, continue to the next step. Don't forget to turn your anti-virus program back on!

  5. Request support: Contact the website owner or request support from your browser.

'This Site Cannot Provide a Secure Server Connection' or 'Network Has Invalid Response'

You get this error when your browser cannot interpret a page due to an error on the server or page. This error can only be resolved by the website owner.

'This Web Page is Not Available'

You get this error when you try to visit a website with an outdated security code. Many browsers display this error message to protect your privacy. Contact the site owner to update the server.

Troubleshoot Connection Errors as a Site Owner

As a site owner, it is often important to resolve connection errors quickly so that your site is not unavailable for too long. Many errors have to do with the connection to the server. Therefore, always make sure you have a good host so that these problems can be solved easily.
